Podcast Show
Its the last of the 2009 podcast from the Empty Shops Radio project. We do aim to be up and running in the new year. The Up Market is closing up for Christmas now and we have a final report of its progress with Dan Thompson and Richard Vobes as well as a report on the dreadful conditions on the roads and pavements of Worthing as a result of the recent snow. Have a merry Christmas and Happy New Year and we will see you again in 2010

Podcast Show
Its the time of art to take over at the Empty Shops project in Worthing, the Up Market. Dan Thompson takes me round to the back of the old carpet showroom to the unseen area that is being transformed by students from Northbrook College. We talk to Chris the tutor and a couple of the students as they use the space and are inspired to create. The exhibition will be open this week so why not come down and have a look at the amazing things you can do in an empty shop?

Dan Thompson is a happy man as funding is not being allocated to the Empty Shops and local businesses to help revitalise the high street and bring some towns back to the brink of success. Dan is working on a plan to do just that and reports on the state of funding available. Tracey is an artist who has taken advantage of the UP Market space at the rear of the building to create some lareg format work and tell sus what she us up to with canvas from an old marquee.

Its a busy show today with lots happening in the Buckingham Road Empty Shop. There is Worthy Dan playing old vinyls from his ancient turntable, Russ Bravo witht he vinyl swap shop. The Bamboo Band are playing live and Jane and Chris from the Caravan Gallery are in with their amazing, books, postcards and photograhy. I even visit Nania and go through a wardrobe. No convinced? Wenche Annie Fagerheim is an artis from Norway and she talks to Richard Vobes today abot her artwork that she is exhibiting at the Up Market store in Buckingham Road, Worthing. She is positioned in the art gallery area where there are other exciting projects to look at including the UK's smallest gallery in the world, based in a dolls house no less. Breaking News - the Uk chain of bookshops known as Borders have gone into liquidation and that potentially leaves many of the high streets with more empty shops being unsed, but Dan Thompson is optimistic that this is an opportunity for local businesses and artistes to take on the premises.
